Macon Georgia lives up to the reputaton "Bible Belt", boasting more than 300 Houses of Worship in the city with some being the oldest in the south.

Houses of Worship is a photographic tribute to religious architecture in Macon Georgia, some dating from the late eighteen hundreds through modern day era. Close-ups of some of the structures reveal the work of talented artisans with beautiful architectural detailing. The religious styles and forms represented range from simple wood-frame country churches to elaborate cathedrals, including the Federal, Gothic Revival, Greek Revival, Italianate, Romanesque, Moorish, and Neoclassical Revival styles. This photo journal's listing includes churches that are documented in the Historic Preservation Division of the Department of Archives and History.
